Our Solutions Approachsm is embodied by five key actions: Listen, Innovate, Design, Align and Deliver. These case studies demonstrate in detail how each step in model occurred.
Case Study 1: PTLU - Instructional Design for Online Career Skill Building Program

In the fall of 2006, a group of business leaders recognized the opportunity to create a job skill training program for college students in India. Experienced in youth career skill development, we were invited to brainstorming sessions. We heard that graduates were well prepared with core academic skills but that many lacked the job skills needed to capitalize on the numerous career opportunities in their burgeoning economy. These students were great "book learners" but lacking in real-life skills for career success.

The group created the program Performance Through Learning for yoU (PTLU). The program was to provide foundational career skill development with track of certificate–like programs in high–demand career specialties. Vivayic was charged with creating the best approach to teach the foundational career skills–leadership, teamwork, customer service, (and more)–using a self directed online learning platform. Recognizing the need to create engaging experiences and opportunities for practice, our team proposed an approach that relied on situations, scenarios, examples to teach and independent practice exercises to test out new skills.

Over a five month period, Vivayic team members assembled content, created outlines and designed the storyboards to guide the development of the 80+ hours of online courses. To meet the scalable and asynchronous criteria of the program, we designed creative ways for the students to receive coaching from friends, colleagues and other students when applying new skills.

We designed a total of 14 courses for PTLU. After delivering the first to the production team for build, we learned there were a number of easy modifications to our design process that would allow the production team to meet aggressive timetables for field testing and promotion. The Vivayic team responded. Course designs were completed on time and with changes that facilitated speedier deployment.

The PTLU program conducted a success field test with students in the summer of 2007. All course designs were delivered on time and on target. The PTLU program continues to expand in India and components of it may be used in training programs for other developing countries.
